It has a seal of the Olympic United States Salt Lake 2002. This bronze was created by the lost wax process.

Artist's Statement:

We were still on the farm when Santa Claus brought my skis. They were wood and painted blue and there was a package with them containing three different kinds of wax. I never did know which wax was for which kind of weather, but it didn't matter much because on the hill out behind the barn the dried sunflowers from last summer sticking up through the snow scraped the wax off the bottoms faster than you could put it on. Wearing them was a tumbling forward more than anything, a pell mell, blurred and black and bluish clattering action, one cartoon foot in front of the other, and a constant hanging on to the downhills, where it felt like the whole world was trying to slide out from underneath me.

This sculpture would make a great conversation piece in any setting.

Artist Bio: Dennis Smith has achieved international recognition as a figurative sculptor. He is most widely known for his sculptures of children, which illuminate moments in time where spontaneous discovery and childhood dreams are revealed. His works are on permanent public display throughout the United States and in many other countries including Denmark, England, France, Japan, Russia and Singapore.

Lost Wax Casting Process The "Lost Wax" is the most precise metal casting technique in existence, ensuring accurate reproductions of the original sculpture and exquisite detail. All bronze pieces are cast from a wax model regardless of the original material the model was sculpted in usually in clay or wax. "Lost wax" casting method was founded thousands of years ago. Even though, modern methods and materials have improved the technique. It is still an extremely labor intensive and expensive process.

Condition: This sculpture is in a very good condition and a great piece of art.
